Skateboarding at Kings Beach

https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/auZ7jjzlpo4&source=udsI was looking for a video on YouTube to post for what has become the regular Friday video feature and stumbled on this vid posted by Kings Beach Skateboarding and filmed and edited by Rieyaad Saban.  It shows a couple of local skateboarders doing their thing at the skate park at Kings Beach.

Schools chess tournament

I realized this afternoon that I never uploaded a picture last night for today's post and that I have a meeting at school tonight so the rest of the evening then quickly gets filled up.  So I scratched around on my phone and found this picture I took a couple of weeks at a chess tournament that Chaos Boy took part in.  Unlike Drama Princess who is very sporty, Chaos Boy likes to rather play chess.  Very unusual for somebody with such…

Sand driving at Brakkeduine

When the South African government banned driving on beaches both the angling and 4x4 fraternities took a big knock.  The anglers couldn't go as far along the beaches as they used to or had to find overland shortcuts while the 4x4 okes had to stick to mountain trails and off road paths.  There is one place I know of where the boys can test their toys and sand driving skills though.  Brakkeduine close to Oyster Bay and St Francis Bay, making it close to Port…

Netball stars

My KidZ are in some aspects total opposites of each other.  Chaos Boy isn't very sporty and would rather be indoors watching TV or playing games while Drama Princess is the very competitive sporty type who would rather be out Geocaching with me than to be indoors.  She's in grade 3 and this year they are playing full on netball matches for the first time at school.  Her under 9 team is undefeated halfway through the season with a couple of overwhelming wins…

Aldo Scribante race track

Race day at Aldo Scribante Race Circuit near Motherwell is always an exciting prospect.  For some reason I just never had the opportunity to go and see racing there but I did pop in the other day to have a look for a Geocache hidden close by.  The track is home to the Algoa Motor Sport Club and hosted it's first event on 30 November 1975.  The track is 2.48 kilometers long with a clockwise racing direction.  Over the years the circuit has developed many National…

Ironman weekend

Ironman is probably the biggest event staged in Port Elizabeth and right up there to what the Argus cycle race is to Cape Town and the Comrades Marathon to Durban.  But Ironman isn't just one day of ordinary sports men and women doing extra ordinary things, its a whole weekend of awesomeness and this past weekend was Ironman weekend.  It all starts in the week before the event with the arrival of athletes and there families, the Ironman expo and…

Algoa Bay Bell Buoy

About three years ago I dug up the info below on the Algoa Bay Bell Buoy and created a post to keep it in until I get a picture of the buoy.  The problem is that the Bell Buoy is about 2,5 kilometers out to sea and its not like I'm just going to just strap my camera to my back and take a swim out there.  Cruising along the beachfront on The Jester last night we had perfect weather…

Arrival of the Blitzbokke

This weekend (the whole week actually) is a big weekend in the Bay.  Its the weekend when the South African leg of the International Rugby Boards 7's world series takes place at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.  Its two days of action packed rugby on the field and lots of party action off it.  All 16 teams taking part came in on two flights last night and I was lucky enough to make the special list to get me past the supporters and into the arrivals area.  I…
