Birthday flowers

Yeh yeh, I know the Northern Hemisphere readers of this blog doesn't want me to keep on reminding them that it is spring down here and hence winter approching for them, but this isn't a spring flowers post. Although it could be. *wink* No, its a I'm giving flowers to myself birthday post. Twenty one plus VAT (which is 14 in SA). Like I said on my Facebook status, if I was a professional sportman I would be retiring soon.…

Horse Memorial sillouette

If there is something I have a soft spot for as a photographer then its a sunset. You can never get tired of the sun disappearing over the horizon with its coinciding oranges, yellows, blues and purples along with a beautiful afterglow. Even better is when you can find a nice subject to put in the foreground to compliment the sunset. In this case the Horse Memorial here in Port Elizabeth. For more sunsets and other sky related photos, visit Skywatch.

Victoria and Alfred Hotel

I was hoping to get a couple of nice sunsets and other sky photos to use on Skywatch Fridays during my recent trip to Cape Town, but alas the weather didn't really allow it and the mountain was just about covered with clouds every day. So this is the closest I got to getting a nice sky picture. The sun reflecting on the water in front of the 4 star Victoria and Alfred Hotel at Cape Town's V&A Waterfront. If you…

Spring is in the air

Today is Spring Day. Winter is busy packing it's bags to head north and summer is knocking on the door. Happy Spring Day. I posted a similiar pic on The Firefly Photo Files the other day, but its very suitable for here on PEDP for today. The photo was taken in Victoria Park.

Game Lodge cuisine

The lodges on the private game reserves around Port Elizabeth doesn't just dish up the most amazing game sightings, but also some of the most delectable foods you can imagine. Best of all is that non two are the same. Visitors are treated to royal meals three times a day with high teas and sundowner game drive snacks in between as well. This was part of the starters we had on a visit to Pumba Game Reserve a little while…

Clifton Beach

The beach in Cape Town to be seen at during summer is Clifton Beach. But covered in bronzed bodies with skimpy bathing suites and designer sunglasses it wasn't when I stopped by last week on my visit to Cape Town. It was a bit too chilly for that. But summer is around the corner and I am sure there are a few out there in the mids of strict diets and gym sessions to get their "see and be seen"…

The Coral Trees around the city is starting to don its flower gown and the Grey Institude makes for a nice background behind this one on the Donkin Reserve.

Table Mountain, my mountain

I love Table Mountain in Cape Town. I have never lived in the Cape, but the mountain feels like my mountain. When I visit the Mother City the first thing I do when I approach is look for the mountain and the last thing I do when leaving is say goodbye to it. Its been a couple of years since my last visit and I got all tingly with excitement when I decided to drive down to Cape Town for…

Graves at St Mary’s

The old St Mary's Cemetery is situated between South End and the city centre close to where the Baakens River flows into the Port Elizabeth Harbour. Some of the graves date back to the mid 1800's and include some of the original British Settlers who arrived on our shores in 1820. For a couple more of my pictures of the cemetery, visit The Firefly Photo Files here and here. The bridge in the background is part of the Settlers Freeway.
