Urban Run 2014

https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/W8fSATToZJY&source=udsLast Sunday it was time for runners to tackle the city in the annual Urban Run again.  After participating the last two years I missed this one but will definitively be back next year.  Check out this video by the organisers and see for yourself how much fun this event really is.

Happiness – Penguin video

https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/FbSs1B58Mis&source=udsLibby Sharwood of SAMREC once asked me if I have ever seen anybody look sad while watching a penguin.  One just can't help smiling around them and I though this video by Mauricio Oliveira that I discovered on YouTube is very appropriate to that and ideal for this week's Friday video.

Jannie & Baksteen “Living in P.E.” music video

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r442Fr42vps]I received an e-mail from Tamara in Germany who is a regular PE Daily Photo follower. When somebody says "It is my dream to one day live in Port Elizabeth" then they are ok in my book. *wink* Tamara recently came across a video posted on YouYube by Glenn Fuller.  Its a fun video by his daughter Derryn and her UPE/NMMU student group who did it as a project back in 2006 with Jannie and Baksteen and their legendary "Living…

Skateboarding at Kings Beach

https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/auZ7jjzlpo4&source=udsI was looking for a video on YouTube to post for what has become the regular Friday video feature and stumbled on this vid posted by Kings Beach Skateboarding and filmed and edited by Rieyaad Saban.  It shows a couple of local skateboarders doing their thing at the skate park at Kings Beach.

Pasella walking the Sacramento Trail with Abel Kraamsaal

https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/uoYinU8CjRw&source=udsAs you know I like to post a video on a Friday and this week I found a Pasella clip on YouTube I Haven't posted on the blog yet.  Can't believe I forgot about this one as I was involved behind the scenes in helping to organize it.  The insert featured Port Elizabeth based Afrikaans singer Abel Kraamsaal.  Pasella took Abel for a walk on the Sacramento Trail and the two guides that took them tell the viewers more about the shipwreck, Khoisan…

Algoa Bay

https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/oQP1UVxO2W4&source=udsThis is the one of the most amazing videos you will ever see about Algoa Bay and that is all I'm going to say...   No its not. Here I would like to quote some info from Wikipedia.   Algoa Bay is a wide inlet along the South African east coast, 683 kilometres east of the Cape of Good Hope.  It is bounded in the west by Cape Recife and in the east by Cape Padrone.  The city of Port Elizabeth with its harbor is…

Addo Elephant National Park promotional video

What is there I haven't said about the Addo Elephant National Park before.  Probably very little.  Addo truly is a gem of the Eastern Cape and so much more than just elephants.  Yes, its THE place to go if you want good (close-up) sightings of wild African elephants and you could easily end up at a waterhole in summer with a couple of hundred elephants all around you.  Yes, all around you.  Addo's main game viewing area is also home to…

Dawn Jorgensen’s favorite travel companion: Africa

https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/kazLIfyn0H8&source=udsFellow travel blogger Dawn Jorgensen of The Incidental Tourist, entered this video into Southern Destinations' #SafariSoulmates competition and was selected as one of the finalists.  While all the other entrants chose to showcase their loved ones or best friends as the perfect travel companion, Dawn decided that it was Africa herself.  Really gooseflesh stuff making one want to travel. Her dust under my feet, cool dark waters, endless landscapes, oceans, game and incredible people. Wherever I find myself, whatever I'm doing. Be…

Reasons to love Port Elizabeth and Nelson Mandela Bay

A couple of years ago when I was still with Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism, we ran a campaign on 101 Reasons to Love Nelson Mandela Bay.  I had a blast recording 101 things to do around the city and metro and it was great to mention it all and not just try to highlight a few things.  At the time a video was also made where members of the public was asked to put something they love doing on a…

45 seconds of Nelson Mandela Bay activities video

I absolutely love the Discover Freedom destination marketing video used to promote Port Elizabeth and Nelson Mandela Bay.  This is a short 45 sec version covering activities in and around the city.
