Visiting Happy Valley in the evening again

As some of you might know, I have a very special place in my heart for Happy Valley and it was the best news ever when the NMB Municipality fixed it up before this year's summer season started.  I walk up Happy Valley quite often but with the Damselfly's operation we didn't really get a chance to go over the December holiday.  A week or so ago we had a perfect Saturday evening and we bundled the KidZ in the…

Public Library at midnight

A couple of nights ago I attended the Eastern Cape provincial Lilizela Tourism Awards at the Feather Market Centre.  Most of us parked on Market Square and on my way back to the car somewhere between 11 and midnight I snapped this picture of the historic Public Library with Queen Vic in the spotlight.

Cape Town big wheel

The Wheel of Excellence (or just Waterfront Big Wheel as most people refer to it) at the V&A Waterfront has become a favorite activity for visitors in Cape Town to do.  The surrounding view of the Waterfront and city from the top is stunning.  My last visit to Cape Town was a brief one and there wasn't time for a trip, but I did snap this pic of it on a walk through the Waterfront before heading to dinner.

Boardwalk Hotel lights

The Boardwalk Complex in Port Elizabeth has always been a beautiful sight at night but since the completion of the new 5 star Boardwalk Hotel and Convention Centre it's become an absolute visual feast for the eyes.  The lights become even more obvious when seen from inside the Boardwalk Complex itself where it reflects off the Boardwalk lake.

Boardwalk in lights

Over the years the Boardwalk Complex has become one of Port Elizabeth's most popular attractions and this has become even more so with the addition of the new Boardwalk Hotel and Convention Centre.  The new building has changed the landscape of the beachfront and this I noticed again from across the Boardwalk lake while on my way to a meeting there the other night.

Sell out crowd

The Southern Kings are back in town after their four match New Zealand and Australia Super Rugby away leg and on Saturday (20 April) evening takes on the three time champions Bulls in front of a sell out Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.  The picture was taken at their second home game against the Sharks which was also in front a sell out crowd.

Night time stadium

Today is a historic day in Port Elizabeth.  The Southern Kings are making their (very controversial)Super Rugby debut against the Western Force in the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium tonight.  A capacity crowd is expected and let's hope the boys don't disappoint in front of their home supporters.
