Little Mr T’s christening

Every now and then when something of significance happens in my family, I do the odd family post. This is one of those occasions. Two weeks ago was my nephew, Little Mr T's christening. A family photo of my Sis, BiL, Lielies and Little Mr T

Baby hands

Today is Youth Day here in South Africa. Youth Day commemorates the start of the Soweto riots of 1976. The iconic picture of Hector Pieterson, a black schoolchild shot by the police, brought home to many people within and outside South Africa the brutalities of the Apartheid regime. I have done a post on the Hector Pieterson Memorial in Soweto, Johannesburg before which can be seen by clicking on the link above. I didn't have anything youthy to post today,…

I’m an uncle again

My Sister gave birth to her second child (see my announcement for Little L's birth here) two weeks ago. Baby Tiaan was born on Saturday 8 May 2010, the day before Mother's Day. I was away when he was born so didn't get to visit them in the hospital. We did pop by last Sunday to meet the newest member of the family. He was sleeping for most of our visit, so I didn't get too many photos of him.…

My Boet’s wedding

I never really thought that my brother (my Boet) would ever tie himself down in marriage. He is too much of a free spirit for that. Or so I thought. Last weekend my Boet got married. I, of cause, was his Best man and like I said in my speech, "I may be the Best man, but I'm not the best man at the wedding. He was. So I just referred to myself as an awesome guy." Here are a…

Beach reflextion

Drama Princess loves being outside and would swim every day if she could. As long as its in a pool. She's still very wary of the sea and would rather play in the sand than go in the water.

Family grave yard

By now you are probably getting a bit bored with all the Oudtshoorn and Klein Karoo posts, so I will move on to the second part of our holiday which was a week spent at Cannon Rocks on the coast. I have some more stuff from this area, but I'll keep it for a little bit later. But before we get back to the coast, today's post is a bit more on the personal side. On our drive back from…

My new nephew

I am interrupting my posts on Germany to announce the birth of my Brother's baby yesterday. Baby Jacques Ryan was born at 16:00 on Sunday, 24 May 2009. So here is the catch. Little Jacques Ryan decided to make his arrival known right in the middle of the stork party at 6 weeks premature... with dad 400 km away on business. My Boet got the call just as he was settling into his guest house in Mossel Bay and was…

Birthday Party

Chaos Boy turned seven on 14 April while we were away camping over Easter Weekend. Last Saturday was his party and this whole week I've been wanting to post a couple of pics. The general theme of the party was boats with the Damselfly keeping the theme constant through the invites and birthday cake as usual. At least this cake wasn't as complicated to make as some of the other ideas she has come up with in the past. Other…

Christening

My niece was born on 15 September last year and this past Sunday was her christening. The ceremony took place at the NG Kerk (Dutch Reformed Church) in the town of Kirkwood. Little L was very good and didn't say boo or baa when the minister put the water on her head. A bit of a deviant look afterwardsAs well all drove out to Kirkwood for the day for the christening, my sis and her hubby took the family out…
