Kenton-on-Sea

The holiday town of Kenon-on-Sea is situated about halfway between Port Elizabeth and East London in the heart of the sunshine coast. It lies between the two tidal rivers of Bushmans River and Kariega River. The picture above is the Bushmans River. The houses on the left hand side of the rive is Bushmans River Mouth while those on the right hand side is Kenton-on-Sea. Kenton is primarily a beach and outdoor destination with the population exploding during the summer…

Rock pool fishing

Who has never chased little fish around rock pools with a net before? I always think the poor little fish living in these rock pools must be so stressed. I would go swimming for cover every time I see a couple of kids with a bright net coming my way as well. Here the Drama Princess is watching Gem Girl chasing the poor little fish around their pool.

Beach reflextion

Drama Princess loves being outside and would swim every day if she could. As long as its in a pool. She's still very wary of the sea and would rather play in the sand than go in the water.

Baywatch

A couple of lifeguards watching the swimming area at the main beach in Cannon Rocks. When I walked up to the guys with my camera in hand I think they were quite curious about what I wanted. I asked them to just sit and do what they were doing. They did as per my request and never looked over their shoulders, but I did notice them talking and laughing about what I was busy with. Afterwards I was thinking how…

The lone fisherman

I popped down to the beach to get some sunset pictures and saw this lone fisherman walking along the shore with all his equipment. Probably on his way to his favorite fishing spot.

Wrecked walkway

A couple of years ago the municipality built a walkway from one of the parking lots at Sardinia Bay across a big dune to give easier access to the beach. The problem is that the dune is slowly moving and didn't like this walkway built across its back. This is what's left of it.

Airborne

A couple of kids from the neighborhood has developed themselves a bit of an informal bmx jump area on a piece of open ground next to the railway line close to us. Although some of the older people in the area are complaining about it, the kids are thoroughly enjoying themselves showing off the bmx jumping skills. I stopped to check it out the other day and even though I only had a couple of minutes I managed to get…

Wading

Chaos Boy wading in the lagoon at the Maitlands River mouth just outside Port Elizabeth. I also took a couple of pics of the river on its own, but it needed a subject and I had my model (at this stage he still volunteers his services when required but sometimes grumbles when I take to long to get the right shot) on hand. The sky was such a great blue when we were there, so I decided to also use…
