Saturday sunrise

Saturday morning I braved the cold to head down to the beachfront for the weekly Hobie Beach parkrun.  To say the air was crisp is an understatement and you could see runners head to their cars quickly to take off their warm tops just before the run started.  As always I had my camera with me and I snapped this pic at about 7:30ish.  I need to brave the cold mornings more often.

Elands River Road sunrise

I'm a bit of a lazy bones when it gets to getting up early for sunrise.  That is one of the things I like about winter.  Sunrise is so much later.  During last weekend's Father / Son camp I took a walk out of the campsite to snap this the sunrise over the Elands River Valley.

Port Elizabeth sunsets

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_mMp-2oXqc&w=500&h=400]Port Elizabeth has had a couple of absolutely stunning sunsets this week.  Yesterday local surf blogger MillersLocal posted a time lapse of Wednesday night's sunset taken from her apartment window overlooking the beachfront *seriously jealous*.  I immediately asked if I could post it as this week's Video Friday and she proceeded to also send me pictures of the sunsets earlier this week. Monday (18 May 2015)Tuesday (19 May 2015) Wednesday (19 May 2015)

Victoria Drive sunset

After dropping Chaos Boy off at Sunday School late Sunday afternoon I decided to do a quick Geocache on Victoria Drive - on the way to Schoenies - before heading back to fetch him.  While searching the sun went down (I hate the short days of winter but love the fact that I get to take more sunset pictures) and the sky got painted in yellow, orange, pink, blue and purple.  I'm sure those Port Elizabethans who follow PEDP would agree that we…

Late afternoon on Olifantskop

I had to drive through to Cradock for a Karoo Heartland Marketing Association meeting today and as I was heading back across the Olifantskop Pass north of Port Elizabeth the sun was starting to reach for the horizon.  I couldn't but help pulling over to enjoy the view back towards the Karoo from the top of the pass.

Sunset over Swartkops

I have been so busy at work lately that I have slowly ran out of photos to post which means that I will really have to make a plan in the next week or so to stock up a little.  Even though I'm not quite out yet, I'm featuring one by a guest photographer today.  I spotted this picture of the sun setting over the Swartkops Estuary with the old power station in the background on Johan Gerber's Facebook and immediately…

Wind turbine at sunrise

I got an email from one of the PE Daily Photo followers, Yolande Gerard-de Vinck, a day or so ago with a photo she took at 06:00 on Saturday 16 August.  She just said that it is towards Addo and the first windmill in the area so I'm not sure if its the Coega turbine or possibly one that is already up at the Grassridge wind farm.  Never the less its a beautiful shot.  If only I got up early…
