I have done a couple of posts on the Sundays River and the Colchester dune fields before on the Port Elizabeth Daily Photo. During my last visit there the wind was howling and the sand was blowing all over the show. Now we all know sand and cameras aren't the bestest of friends, but I braved the wind and sand to try and get a couple of photos of the sand blowing off the dunes.
I know its winter and a bit cold outside and this is a summer picture, but I feel like going to the beach for some reason. Hobie Beach is one of Port Elizabeth's main beaches. It can be found across the road from the Boardwalk Casino complex and is where Shark Rock Pier is situated. The beach is one of Port Elizabeth's 4 Blue Flag Beaches and is a favorite with both young and old.

This pic was taken on the beach at Cape Recife on the Algoa Bay side looking south at the Cape Recife lighthouse (right) and one of the shipping beacons (left). I specially liked the cloud formation in the background.

Last night we headed down to the beachfront for the annual Opening of the Season festivities. The highlight of the evening is a fireworks display from Shark Rock Pier at Hobie Beach.
