A wave of pink at the Big Walk for Cancer

This morning the annual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer took place from the Boardwalk.  We joined over 10 000 other walkers, most of them in pink, in support of those who are busy fighting cancer, those who are cancer survivors and those who have lost the battle to cancer.  Just about everybody there are family or friends of one of the above so it truly is a very special day.  It took us a good 20 plus minutes just…

Going on an Adventure Drive in the Gamtoos Valley

Beautiful scenery, rolling hills covered in fynbos, citrus orchids, farmlands, white frothing streams, mountains on the horizon, forested valleys, interesting back roads, friendly people and countryside hospitality.  These are all things you will find in the Gamtoos Valley.  The best way to explore and get to know the Gamtoos Valley is to spend a weekend and see for yourself what this valley on the eastern doorstep of the Baviaanskloof has to offer.  One of the quick fire ways to do this…

A classy day at the Jazzy Boozy Cheezy Affaire

Anybody blindfolded and flown around the country before being dropped off at the Jazzy Boozy Cheezy Affaire would have been excused if they guessed their destination to be somewhere in the Cape Winelands after seeing what was around them.  They would have been very wrong though.  The JBC wasn't taking place in the Cape Wineland.  Far from it.  It took place just outside Addo at Africanos Country Estate in the Sundays River Valley of the Eastern Cape. The JBC Affaire wasn't…

The Jazzy, Boozy, Cheezy Affaire is coming

This morning I got to attend the media launch of the upcoming Jazzy, Boozy, Cheezy Affaire that will be taking place on 26 and 27 September at Africanos Country Estate in Addo.  Anybody who is into wine, cheese, food, jazz, chocolates, flowers or perfume would really enjoy the event as all of that and more will be represented over the weekend.A “sensory spring sensation” will provide a fine feast for all five senses of lovers of laid-back jazz, full-bodied wine…

The Port Elizabeth Savanna Before and After Party

A couple of weeks ago I received an invitation to the Savanna Before and After Party here in Port Elizabeth.  I'm not really the party and nightlife type so would probably have looked at the invite with only half an eye if it wasn't for the fact that it was a Savanna Party.  Savanna Premium Cider is my favorite drink after all so how can I miss it?  Saturday evening we dropped the KidZ off at the In-Laws and off we…

A taste of the Wildsfees

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGicWAkYgvg&w=500&h=400]I was looking for a video about this year's ABSA Kirkwood Wildsfees for this week's Friday Video post.  Unfortunately they haven't uploaded a video for this year yet so I decided to go with a video about the 2014 Wildsfees.  A couple of artists and activities may have been different, but the vibe is still the same and you can get a good idea what it's about if you haven't been there.
