Yesterday we told you about Ironman SA, here are the 1600 swimmers waiting for the starting gun at 7am today. ......and they're off, for their 3.8km swim which is the first stage of the event.As there was a bank of clouds over the sea, the sun was not yet up. The pier was thronged with crowds waiting to cheer the competitors on, while the press hovered overhead. We will post lots more pix of the event on our personal blogs…
This is a big weekend for Port Elizabeth.... the Ironman SA contest is being held here, and the beachfront is all decked out for the occasion. It could not have been a more perfect day for the first stage, which was the corporate and Ironkids events. Welcome to Ginger, at the Beach Hotel. This beautiful and trendy new spot is great place for a smart meal, but there is also a more relaxed terrace, overlooking Shark Rock Pier.
