Back to the beach

After a couple of wet months (as I've said before, 2012 has been the wettest non flood year on record) it finally seems that summer is starting to slowly muscle its way into our lives.  Although its not totally in the door yet, the days are starting to warm up very nicely and people are heading back to the beach front more and more.  Even I went for a run on the beachfront walkway the other afternoon.  The less said…

Horses on the beach

The Sardinia Bay area is home to many horses, some often being ridden down to the beach for a trot and a gallop on the sand.  These three turned back fairly quickly due to a howler of a southerly wind.  I did wish I could go for a ride on the beach with them.  Haven't done that in ages.

Leaping (no swimming yet)

Chaos Boy leaping off the rocks in front of the Pollok Beach parking area.  Its not quite swimming weather yet but hopefully in a month or so we'll be able to take the Kidz back there for a swim in the rock pool.

Surf photography

The Pride went to Pollok Beach last weekend and I took a walk down to Pipe with Drama Princess to go and watch the surfers.  I can't say I was very surprised to find Luc Hosten, The Godfather of PE Photography (Friends of Schoenmakerskop), snapping away as the surfers rode the waves.

Romantic walks at Sardinia Bay

Its been a bit of a cold and wet weekend so I thought I'll try and counter that with a warm beach scene of a couple taking a walk along Sardinia Bay.

Rocky beach

Summer is here and the beach is the place to be.  I apologise to all the Northern Hemisphere readers of the blog.  I'm not mocking you, its just that I will be spending a lot more time on the beachfront.

Fisherman and stadium

A fisherman fishing off the rocks between Hobie Beach and Pollok Beach.  In the background one of the Port Elizabeth Harbour is visible with the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium beyond.

Coming soon: Summer

Yesterday morning was a stunning morning and I headed down to the beachfront before work for a short walk.  The weather was stunning with no wind and the sun warming up.  Summer is around the corner and one of these days people will be flocking to the beaches. Kings Beach stretches away from McArthur's pool to the harbour in the picture above and is still empty... for now.
