Today is the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup here in South Africa. I will be posting most of my World Cup photos on my Port Elizabeth Daily Photo blog, but some will make their way here as well. The posts on here will continue business as usual.
These photos are of the new soccer ball structures on the traffic circles outside the Port Elizabeth Airport. They are beautifully lit up at night and while I was there taking these I saw lots of cars slowing down or stopping to take photos.
Lovely, thank you for sharing these pictures.
South Africa is making me feel very proud!!Amazing what we as a country did for this WC…
What a pretty structure! Do you think it will remain there after the world cup?
I'd slow down too for pics, then hope I didn't get rearended.
The lights are beautiful!
Cool looking structures. Love the night lights. Great captures!
I really like what you all have done with the traffic circles.
I dont know about PE, but Pretoria has gone completely crazy with soccer fever!!
Nice captures Jonker. I can see that sculpture from my office window and took some pics the other evening, but never published them.
Stunning photographs Jonker! So much effort has gone into making the WC a success. It's quite exciting – I do hope we keep up the beauty of it all afterwards.
Great shots! Love the first one. Should be saleable. 🙂 USA tied GB. Who knew!!
