It is always a pleasure to see the flamingos, as they return to the salt pans at Swartkops in spring. This year the numbers are still fairly low but hopefully more will arrive in the weeks ahead.
The flamingos are quite shy and do not let one get too close for photogrphs, so you have to take what you can get.
They are very nice birds. You did well on getting clear pictures.
It’s always a source of amazement to me that these birds decide to hang about there – they look so incongruous! I rememebr driving to Uitenhage with my dad along this route back in the 1970s and seeing the flamingoes was always one of the route markers of the trip (as was that mountain of salt!)
