Its been a bit of a cold and wet weekend so I thought I'll try and counter that with a warm beach scene of a couple taking a walk along Sardinia Bay.

Summer may be packing her bags to head up north but the days are still nice and warm and people are still going to beach for a swim.
After a hot January, summer took a bit of a back seat during February. The last week or so it's been back with force and we could get back in the pool again. Last Sunday we headed down to Sardinia Bay for a walk with the dogs and Drama Princess couldn't resist trying out the calm waters of one of the little bays.

On Sunday afternoon I went on a photo walk with a couple of other photographers on the first section of the Sacramento Trail. The Sacramento Trail stretches along the coast between Schoenmakerskop and Sardinia Bay over a distance of 4 kilometers which means you would have covered 8 km walking it there and back. The Sacramento trail follows the coastline between Schoenmakerskop and Sardinia Bay and is about 4km each way. Its been years since I've done the walk and its high time I do it again. Hopefully at some stage during the holidays I will get a chance. Most people take the walk early in the morning and then go for breakfast at one of the little restaurants in Schoenies.
Port Elizabeth has a number of golf courses around the city. The best known one is the Humewood Golf Course, a links course which is seen as one of the best courses in the country. One of the lesser known ones are the 9 hole Sardinia Bay golf course. I'm not much of a golfer (not enough time), so I haven't played the big courses, but I thoroughly enjoyed playing Sardinia Bay the other morning with my Boet.
Another of the pics I took at Sardinia Bay on Sunday. The coastline from Sards towards Seaview has some magnificent dunes along the beach. On Sunday there were a couple of boys sand boarding from the dunes close to the car park while families were playing in the sand and couples were either walking along the shore or sitting on top of the dunes enjoying the view. A perfect winters day.
The beach at Sardinia Bay may not always be the safest swimming beach around, but it is one of the most popular spots for the people who live on the western side of Port Elizabeth for a nice leisurly stroll. Its also one of only a few beaches where dogs are still allowed on and most weekends you will find a number of people taking their "best friends" for a walk along the shore.
