A selfie while walking in the Sardinia Bay Nature Reserve

After a morning of mowing the law and doing some things around the house I headed out for a spot of Geocaching this afternoon.  Rather than just doing a few park and grab caches, I opted to go for a walk in the Sardinia Bay Nature Reserve and pick up a series of 12 caches that I've been wanting to do for a while now.  The caches in question aren't on the regular trails but rather higher up in the…

Unforgettable Sardinia Bay views

The view west from the top of the dune by the parking area at Sardinia Bay.  It can't be denied that we have some of the most beautiful scenery in the country right here on our doorstep.

Sardinia Bay parking is getting smaller

The Sardinia Bay migrating dune has now decided that it is time to occupy the parking area as well.  The entrance to the parking area now barely has space for one car to pass through and I'm sure it won't be long before a new plan will have to be made.

Caching walk

Last weekend I went for a Geocaching outing with Drama Princess.  Two of the caches we did was along a path in the Sardinia Bay Nature Reserve.  I love how Geocaching is allowing me to spend time with my KidZ in the outdoors.

Snorkeling at Sardinia Bay

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aayZEonJRjM?feature=player_embedded]I found this stunning video by Luke Kibble on YouTube.  It was shot with a GoPro on a snorkeling outing at Sardinia Bay.  Beautiful footage!  Think I need to go get the flippers wet before it starts to get too cold.

https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/uoYinU8CjRw&source=udsAs you know I like to post a video on a Friday and this week I found a Pasella clip on YouTube I Haven't posted on the blog yet.  Can't believe I forgot about this one as I was involved behind the scenes in helping to organize it.  The insert featured Port Elizabeth based Afrikaans singer Abel Kraamsaal.  Pasella took Abel for a walk on the Sacramento Trail and the two guides that took them tell the viewers more about the shipwreck, Khoisan…

New Cash Store ribs

The Old Cash Store on Sardinia Bay Road has been a popular spot over the years but since October last year something has changed.  Well, for a start the name did.  It's now called The New Cash Store.  But a name change did just fall from the sky.  It came with new owners Doug and Clair who have blown new life into an old favorite.  Steak and burger night, pasta night, seafood night, pizza night, live music, an organic market once…

Sardinia Bay seen from the Sacramento Trail

Walking along the Sacramento Trail one can see the sand dunes of Sardinia Bay in the distance the whole time.  With about a kilometer to go the old Surf Lifesaving and ski boat club buildings come into view with the walkway over to the parking area.
