[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ry31qGdUGrQ&w=500&h=400]I was looking for a video to post for today's Video Friday post and found this one of a surfing lesson at Kings Beach on Blake T's YouTube channel.  I've never surfed in my life but perhaps it is time for me to try.  The lessons look like fun.

Kings Beach and Fence surf spot

I wonder how many PE people have ever walked all the way down Kings Beach right up to the harbour wall.  I did it a little while ago on a beautiful day and took this picture looking back along the beach from on top of the wall.Right next to the harbour wall is a surf spot called Fence.  Why is it called Fence?  The answer I got from local surf blog Millers Local.Back before all the sand built up against…

Kings Beach activities

Standing at McArthur pool on Saturday during Ironkids I tried out the zoom lens on my new camera watched some activity on Kings Beach.  I was amazed at all the different things happening.  People swimming, a couple of kite boarders, two guys on SUPs, body boarders, knee board paddlers, kids building sand castles, people having a tan and a few folk just going for a walk.  All of that with lots of sail boats out in the bay. Truly a…

Drinks overlooking the pool

On Saturday during Ironkids at the McArthur pool complex my eye kept on wandering to the folk having drinks on the deck at Cubana.  It must be one of the best spots for a drink with its view of the pools and Kings Beach beyond.

Looking along Kings Beach

Have you ever walked along Kings Beach all the way to the harbour wall? Not? Then I bet you have never seen Kings Beach from this angle.  A little while ago I did just that and sneaked onto the harbour wall for a bit till a security guard looked at us funny.  So we turned around and I snapped this pic of Kings Beach as we were heading back to the beach.

Pebbles on Denville Beach

Going to the beach in Port Elizabeth usually means heading to Kings Beach, Humewood, Hobie Beach or Sardinia Bay.  There are many little beaches and corners in between like Denville Beach next to McArthur Pools.  Denville is a popular spot for beginner surfers but not that frequently used by bathers as the surrounding beaches.  Denville and Humewood Beach is separated by rocks and I photographed these pebbles on the beach as we were heading towards those rocks on a day of beach exploration.

Beachfront sign – also a grass safe house

Don't you just love (or hate) it when people do something with all the good intentions in the world and then afterwards realize that they just didn't think it through properly.  I spotted this sign at Kings Beach the other day and it clearly falls in that category.  The sign is part of the Kings Beach Park development pointing out the skate park, play park, beach and other things.  The sign has a backing with a glass front but the problem is…

Drama Princess Instapose reflection

Drama Princess doing the "Instagram pose" on the beachfront during the Instawalk a couple of weeks ago.  I really like the reflection in the pond along the Kings Beach promenade and she makes the perfect subject.  Not that she needs any excuse to pose for a photograph.

Kings Beach selfie frame

One of the features as part of the Kings Beach Park development is a beach chair selfie frame which Drama Princess just had to try out while on last weekend's Instawalk in the area.
