The beach is calling

I don't think it matters if its summer or winter, living in Port Elizabeth means that the beach is always calling.  You don't have to go swim to go to the beach, just go for a walk or lets the kids run free a little.

Beachfront icon

Since its revamp the pier is looking great at night, especially with the new brighter lighting.  It's actually so bright that it is possible to swim at night, like the little boy is doing.

We have quiet beaches again

After a busy holiday season, life in Port Elizabeth has returned to normal.  I popped out to the beach during lunchtime one day this week and just enjoyed the wonderful beach we have between Hobie and Pollok, sharing it with only one or two others.

Shark warning flag out at Hobie Beach

I could not believe my eyes at about lunch time today when I spotted a post of Facebook about a shark warning flag flying at Hobie Beach.  I just had to go and look for myself.  Jip, there it was.  Fluttering on the breeze on this warm and muggy Tuesday afternoon.  I snapped a pic (obviously the one in this post) with my phone and headed for the pier to see if I could spot the shark in question.  I…

Boardwalk Hotel view to Millers

This is the view standing on the Boardwalk Hotel's pooldeck looking towards Millers and Pollok Beach.  The middle rock of the lot is Bird Rock and Hobie Beach is just to the left of the picture.  With all the palm trees one who don't know the PE beachfront could easily think it's somewhere tropical.  Heck, with some of these hot and humid days we've been having it could just as well be.

Shark Rock Pier from the north – plus a question for followers
