Save the planet…..Recycle

It is utterly crazy that in a city the size of Port Elizabeth, no municipal structures exist for the recycling of waste. Luckily, for those of us who care more about the planet than our town fathers (and mothers!) do, these enterprising ladies have set up a company called Greencycle, to help with recycling in PE. Loxion life 2, the

Another picture from guest photographer Bongi Magongo, taken in New Brighton. This was the venue for an open air fashion show that took place there recently (cool fashions can be seen on Bongi's facebook album). And by the way, note the pavement decorations, what is it about architects and balls? hehe

Pineview

One of the iconic buildings in Port Elizabeth Central is Pineview, which is situated between Donkin Street and Ivy Terrace. When you contrast this building and Cora Terrace with the earlier post on the Victoria Hotel, you can see what a difference having a heart and a passion for our City and our heritage can achieve.

Snakes at Reptile World

We decided to take the Rugrats to Reptile World at The Boma today to experience some slithering serpents. Well, guess who had a legen... wait for it... dary time and who was hiding at the door. A sad old building

We don't always show the nicer side of Port Elizabeth and sometimes let the social conscience kick in.A sad relic from the past is the Victoria Hotel, an art decor style building that has been allowed to decay to such an extent that it has become an uninhabitable shell. Like most of the buildings in Victoria Street its doors have been bricked up to keep out the vagrants and squatters.Let's hope that its owner starts doing something about the urban…

Looking down from the top of the cliff

This is White's Road, from the edge of the cliffs in Donkin Reserve, just before sunrise. The jungle -like gardens along the side of the road give it a wonderful mysterious quality (warning to potential tourists... do not do this without your can of pepper spray handy!)

Shark Rock Pier has featured in many of our posts, but it has many moods, so we never tire of photographing it. This shot was taken as the sun was making her presence felt and you can see her rays catching the top of the waves, from under the pier.

The Boardwalk day and night

The Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment complex on the Port Elizabeth beachfront is a very popular spot for both locals as well as visitors to the city. The nice part about it is that you don't have to visit the casino to visit the Boardwalk. In actual fact the complex is a very family friendly environment.
