Aloes in the Karoo

One of the things I realised during lockdown that I was missing out on was seeing the aloes in bloom while driving through the Eastern Cape's Karoo Heartland. It's definitely one of my favorite things to see on a road trip and the thought of missing out on it this year kinda depressed me. Kragga Kamma aloe fence

A drive up Kragga Kamma Road towards Colleen Glen may just give you a colourful surprise this time of year. I saw a photo of the stunning aloe fence on Kragga Kamma Road in full bloom on Facebook and just had to go and see it myself. Beauty in the abandoned

There is always beauty to be found in the abandoned.  It could be in the ruins of the building, nature taking back what is her's or just the surroundings.  In this case it is an aloe flowering early at the unused and abandoned Humewood Station.

Coral Aloes in flower

The flowering Coral Aloes in the Karoo just north of Olifantskop was stunning again this year.  We really don't have to go very far from Port Elizabeth to see nature in all it's splendor.

Aloes along the beachfront boardwalk

Aloes flowering next to the beachfront boardwalk just beyond the lollipop beacon on the corner of Marine Drive and Admiralty Way.
