In all my years of watching clouds, this is something I have never seen before. When fetching our kids from the airport recently, we were greeted with shimmering pearlescent clouds as the lowering sun caught them at just the right angle to create irridescent colours across them, and we went home gasping at the sight of emerald green clouds. Surreal sky and those lamposts really add an extra dimension.
Great eye, and good shot. I think its high upper level winds that do that, but I’d have to check my text books on that. I wish I had become a meteorologist and knew all the details.
I love that photo. The clouds are so pretty with the sun shining through them.
Mother of Pearl! I mean wow. Talk about looking up at the right time. Also shows the importance of always having ther camera on hand.
Wow! Thanks for the photograph, our South African skies are a national treasure and here in the Eastern Cape we have some stunners. I love Firefly’s one from St Francis also …
