Oh YAY! My Pineapple Lily (Eucomis) finally flowered. This one seems to be called the Eucomis – “Meguru”. Last year I received three plants in a pot from my mom. They never flowered so I moved the bulbs into a flower bed next to the front door in late winter. So this year one flowered. And that not too long after moving them into the garden. I’m impressed. I can’t wait till next year in anticipation that more of them may flower then.

That's very pretty. Never seen anything like that before. Excuse my ignorance, but why is it called a Pineapple Lily – is there a relationship?
I like the perspective on that second photo! Very nice.
Never seen one close up that like .. very pretty!! I want one!!! Looking forward to next year when you should have more flowers !!!
What a beautiful plant. Love the stalk of flowers with the subtle dots of purple. Plus, of course, you caught a bug. Seems to be a lot f bug hunting in SA. 😉
How wonderful Jonker. I thought it would be too cold there by you for them to grow. For some reason I always associate them with a more sub-tropical climate.
I really like the perspective in the middle photo!
Beautiful!
They are soo pretty aren't they – both as a whole and the smaller parts …Gena @ Thinking Aloud
