Orange bracket fungus

Walking through the Tsitsikamma forest you see shades of green, brown and grey, but every now and then there is a bright flash. The red from under the wing of a Knysna Loerie gliding from branch to branch, a tiny colourful flower or an orange bracket fungus growing on a piece of dead wood.

Fungus – it's such an ugly word, and conjours up pictures of green mould on stale bread in my mind, and yet I have seen some beautiful forms on your blog, and this one is particularly pretty! You really do find some amazing things on your travels Jonker – thank you for sharing them with us!

Gorgeous! Love the brilliant color. Did you see any of those red star-shaped plants on the ground there. Can't remember what they're called. Something like asblum?
