Over the last couple of days I have posted pics from my visit to Pumba Private Game Reserve and will probably have a few more over the next day or two.
Pumba has two lodges. The one is called Pumba Water Lodge and is situated on the edge of a dam, while the second one, Msenge Lodge, is a little further into the reserve in the bush. I got to stay at the latter one of the two. Today I want to show you what the lodge look like.
Each of the bedrooms is situated in its own chalet (or cabin or hut, whatever you want to call them). You get a queen size bed with mosquito net draped over and around it. Fairy princess – or in my case, prince – kind of stuff. There is a huge bath with big floor to ceiling windows. There are also indoor and outdoor showers and loads of other amenities.
The big sliding doors open up onto a private deck with your own swimming pool. The only beings who can see in through your windows or onto your deck are the wildlife, so it is possible that you may open your curtains in the morning and find an elephant or even a lion trying to sneak a peak.
Dinner is served either in the lodge or out in the boma. At either venue you can sit around the fire before and after the meal enjoying a drink while discussing the days events and sightings. There is few things as relaxing as sitting by the fire and listening to the night sounds.
The less I say about the food the better. I could just go on and on and on… Here is our starter. It had springbok capacio and prickly pear salad amongst others. The main meal included kudu steak, bobotie, roasted lamb and loads of vegetables, not to mention the dessert.
You go on two game drives for every nights accommodation. The morning game drive starts at 06:30 and ends at about 08:30. Guests then return for breakfast at the lodge and if you choose to sit outside on the deck, this is the view across the plains towards the hills in the background.Would I ever return if I had the opportunity? Well, let me think about i… YES! Without a doubt.
Oh my! What a stunning place. I would love to go there too, but as you say, 5* is a bit above my budget too. MIL knows the place and she also says its beautiful … now maybe, if I buy that lotto ticket … who knows?
