Karoo Cactus

On our recent visit to Cradock we walked up Oukop, the hill outside the town. From the top there is a lovely view over the town. There is a wide variety of succulents and cactuses that grow in the area and this one I found very interesting.

Nice shot, I would like to take a trip to photograph some cactus. Thanks for stopping by, the latest photos on my blog came for a trip to Minneapoles, MN. The bridge was builted in the 1800s. It was a nice trip but I’m glad to be home.

I love cactuses! Love the way you took a shot far away and then a macro.

We are SOOOO lucky to have such a great variety of biomes on our doorstep, this really is a magic part of the world! I love that you can drive 2 hours to the West and be in rich coastal forest with giant yellowwoods etc, and then 2 hours North, and you are in semi desert with these fascinating plants, and in between are all sorts of other wonderful things like fynbos, wetlands, mountains etc.
