Christmas full moon

We spent 10 days over the December holidays camping at Vloedbos Holiday Resort in the Overberg and I have a couple of days left before heading back to work on Monday.  So between chilling in the pool, keeping the KidZ busy and doing a few chores around the house, plus sleeping a little late for a change, I haven't really done much blogging lately other than my daily posts on PE Daily Photo.  But  I think it's time to start sharing…

New Year at Kini Bay

New Year's Day is known as the one day in the year when people flock to the beaches in their hundreds  thousands millions to wash off the dust from the past year and celebrate the arrival of the new one.  A few years ago we discovered that the gully in Kini Bay gets bypassed by most and it has now  become a tradition for us to go and spend our day swimming and snorkeling here.  This year was no different…

Yummy baked goods at Just Knead More

The Port Elizabeth Geocachers have a WhatsApp group where we chat about caching as well as anything and everything else.  One day George C12 mentioned a bakery and posted a picture of some yummy goodies he bought.  A few days later he did it again and people got curious.  Where was this place George C12 seem to be buying shares in?  He gave the location and slowly, one by one, the cachers started visiting it.  Every time somebody did they…

Road sign Geocaching

A Geocacher looks at each and every thing they pass along the way as a potential hiding place for a cache (as long as it isn't closer than 161 meters from the next cache).  Road signs are no different and this week I went Geocaching with Drama Princess and this was exactly where she found one of the caches we went hunting for.

Boardwalk fountains video

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aMuytsdCbE&w=500&h=400]We kick off 2016 with the first Video Friday post of the year and I chose one showing the Boardwalk Fountain Spectacular in it's full glory.  I couldn't find a video on YouTube showing last night's fireworks on the beachfront, but the fountains are just as good if not better.  The video is by LimeWave.

New Year’s Eve braai with the family

As we were away over Christmas we didn't have a Christmas lunch with the family.  We decided to rather do it on New Year's Eve and both Ouma and the In-Laws came over for a braai tonight.  Chicken sosaties, cheese sausage, kabernossies (a smoked russian type of sausage), skildpaadjies (minced liver in net fat) and braai broodjies (toasted sandwiches with cheese, onion and tomato made over the coals).  As I type this my MIL's trifle is being dished up so…

Cool off on ice this summer

We had to go and do a little shopping at Baywest Mall this morning and as always stopped to watch the skaters on the ice rink.  I tried to think how long it's been since the one at the old Tramways building closed down.  20 odd years?  The folk of PE had to wait a long time to glide over the ice again and looking at how good some of the skaters are I imagine a few of them are…

Fort Frederick and Central

Standing in Fort Frederick looking towards Central the Donkin Lighthouse and Great Flag can be seen on the Donkin Reserve.  The building obscuring the lower part of the lighthouse is the Prince Alfred Guard Drill Hall.
