As you cross over the Montagu Pass from George into the Klein Karoo you enter a small village called Herold. Herold is tucked away in the mountains at the end of the beautiful historic pass. The town developed as a result of the the pass that was constructed in 1847. The town grew quite rapidly as travellers along this new road to the Klein Karoo needed a place to stay as well as other essential services. It continued to be a busy town until the 1950’s when the shorter and faster Outeniqua Pass was built and by 1960 it was almost a ghost town. These days the town is part of a small farming community and lately a lot of the old buildings in town has been renovated to created accommodation, a pub and restaurant for visitors who venture off the beaten track.Herold

I love when little old towns get a face lift. And this one looks most deserving.
Look at that beautiful blue sky! How time flies – haven't popped in to 'see' you for days – love scrolling down and catching up with you and your photos. Just love that sunset one! My excuse for not popping in … it's cold in our study (the coldest room in the house!) and I now have the boys every afternoon again. Have also started going to an extra yoga class on a Monday morning – to try and get my 'groove' back, my inner being, my normality !!!!! It's coming … slowly !!!!!
Something tells me that the pub in this little town would be a great place to spend an afternoon.
So many little town like this are going the same and they are so nice to go to.
