Walmer mini robots

The kiddies bike path in front of the Walmer Library is the perfect spot to teach your kids about the rules of the road.  I think the best thing about it is the working traffic lights.  Although the KidZ are now too big to go and ride bike there, I stopped there last weekend to check up on a Geocache I have in the area and decided to snap a pic.  No kiddies riding around today though.

Water under the bridge at the dip

During the recent heavy rains the 3rd Avenue Dip was closed a couple of times again.  After it opened up Drama Princess asked if we could stop down at the bottom because she wanted to see the water.  The Baakens River was still flowing strong and water was gushing through the pipes under the road.Looking down the river from the bridge

This is the Wild Coast

Doesn't this just shout out Wild Coast to you?  A winding dirt road, rolling hills dotted with huts and villages and a beautiful rugged coastline second to none.  If you have never been there to experience and see this for yourself, then you really must make a plan cause you are missing out.The photo was taken on the road between Coffee Bay and Hole in the Wall.  #experienceeastcape

J Bay Wind Farm from a dirt road

Love them or hate them, the wind farms around Jeffrey's Bay, Humansdorp and St Francis has become part of the Kouga region's landscape.  After a meeting in Humansdorp recently I did a detour to Paradise Beach along the road that leads through Lombardini Game Farm and stopped to snap this pic back on the road.   What's your feeling about the wind farms becoming such prominent landmarks on the landscape?

Langenhoven Drive from the Bridge

While the Damselfly was in hospital a couple of weeks ago, I went for a walk through Greenacres and The Bridge while waiting for visiting hours.  I don't get to go to Greenacres that often as Walmer Park is much closer and more convenient for me so its been a while since my last visit.  Standing on The Bridge I snapped a photo of Langenhoven Drive with my phone and only when, looking at it afterwards did I notice how quiet…

Looking down Langenhoven

Some people just know CJ Langenhoven Drive as the road that goes beneath The Bridge Shopping Centre, but its also the road that links Newton Park down towards the Korsten and North End area, becoming Kempstone Road at the bottom by Mercantile Hospital.  A caching expedition over the weekend took us to a church just behind Greenacres and this view along with it.  A view looking down Langenhoven.

The M4 Settlers Freeway

Some know it as the Settlers Freeway and some just call it by its number, the M4 freeway.  But whatever whoever calls it, this is what the freeway cutting between the city and Algoa Bay looks like from the top of the Campanile.

The road through the Transkei

When people talk about the Eastern Cape, Wild Coast and Transkei then the road are always one of the first things mentioned. "The road is bad." "The road is full of potholes."  "The road this", "the road that" and "the road whatever".  I've never been further than just past East London and got to fly to Durban every time I had to go to Indaba.  The only time I drove to KwaZulu Natal I went via the Eastern Free State to…

Marine Drive on the Wildside

I think most Port Elizabethans take Marine Drive along the Wildside for granted.  I took a location scout from Cape Town that way last week and she was very impressed with the stunning views you get of the coastline from the road.  It may not be Chapmans Peak Drive, but it sure can be classified as a scenic coastal drive of note.
