Sunset over Port Elizabeth

Yesterday afternoon I worked a little later than usual and as I left the office the sun was starting to head for the horizon.  I stopped across the road from Bayworld and grabbed my camera.  Those photos are still there... on my camera, but I did snap one with my phone as well.   We've been very fortunate to have a few stunning sunsets the last few days.

Clouds over Port Elizabeth

Last weekend while on the beach I noticed this line of clouds moving over Port Elizabeth.  If I didn't know better I would have thought it was a cold front coming in, but these clouds were moving away and this was the back of it.  Was rather striking...

Splash Festival crowds

It was Splash Festival time again this Easter weekend and after a bit of a damp squib on Friday, the rest of the weekend turned out rather nicely.  I spent some time at Splash as part of the Luister FM outside broadcast on Sunday and was quite impressed with the amount of people around.  When the wresting started the crowd watching was a bit thin but it quickly grew when Kurt Darren did a performance between two of the early…

Drone footage around Shark Rock Pier

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqiGwcSwfpE&w=500&h=400]I was very excited when I saw that Renaldo Gouws had uploaded some drone footage on YouTube again.  Renaldo may be best known for his political and social comment videos, but his drone videos truly are exceptional.  He has upload three which I will be sharing with you on Video Friday over the next three weeks.  The first one features Shark Rock Pier and surroundings.  Makes me wish I had the budget to get myself a toy like this as well.…

Cooling down at Supertube

I love spending time at the Supertube at Kings Beach.  Once I get going I just can't stop.  Yes, I slow down a bit after an hour or so but I'm like a tank.  I keep going long after the kids have stopped to look for something to eat or to warm up a bit under a towel.  Last weekend we spent a day at the Supertube with Miggie's EP Indoor Cricket team as part of a team building day…

The Slides at MacArthur’s

On Saturday Miggie had her birthday party at MacArthur Pool and the kids spent most of the day on MacArthur's slides.  Even though they really are kiddie slides, even I decided to go down once or twice... or five times.  Who's counting?

Party by the pool

On Saturday we had Miggie's birthday party at MacArthur Baths on the beachfront.  At R40 an adult and R20 for kids 12 and under it really is a bargain venue to have a party.  We didn't book before hand and just took up minimum space to put down our stuff, but there were four other parties that booked and had tables set and reserved for them.  The complex can also supply party packs at at additional charge but the great…

Breakfast views on the beachfront

This morning I joined a couple of colleagues for breakfast at Angelo's on the beachfront to celebrate one of their birthdays.  Sitting there watching a couple of dolphins pass by we all just realised again how privileged we are living in this beautiful coastal city where we can sit and have a meal with a view like this.
