Snail
I was looking for nice angles for the flowers I posted yesterday when I found this snail on a leave. Oh well, have camera, will shoot.

A couple of container ships lying at berth in the Port Elizabeth harbour. The PE harbour was built in the 1930's and is the 5th largest harbour in South Africa after Durban, Cape Town, Richards Bay and Saldanha Bay. The new industrial harbour at Coega will take over certain functions that is currently being done in the Port Elizabeth harbour, but it won't replace it. One of the things it will be able to do is to take ships that…
Although I have drove past the St Mary's Cemetery all my life, I have never taken the time to go into it for a look. Last week I grabbed my camera during one lunchtime and headed off to the oldest cemetery in Port Elizabeth. I'll do a post on the actual cemetery later in the week, but for today I want to show some of the little flowers I found growing between the grave stones.
This morning the Spar Ladies Race took place on the beachfront. It consist of 5km and 10km races. The Port Elizabeth leg of the race is one of the biggest in the country with nearly 10 000 entries. Most of the participants take part in the 5km which is mostly a fun walk with big and small as well as young and old taking part while the 10km is a much more serious race with some of the best runners…
I saw these little pink flowers growing on the grass on the sea side of Marine Drive across the road from the Marine Hotel the other morning. They were only on this one patch bordered by the little palm trees and it kind of looked like Spring got stuck in between the trees and never left.
On a recent visit to one of the game reserves close to Port Elizabeth, we found this lone European Swallow sitting on a fence. Most of the swallows have left up north already and the first thing that came to mind was "straggler". I can imagine him sitting there watching the sky and wondering if its really time to head north before winter arrives down here. For more great pictures where you can watch the sky like this little fellow,…
Last Saturday Chaos Boy had two parties. The first one was at Adventureland just off Sardinia Bay Road at a venue where I haven't been to before. Its a very lekker spot with two jumping castles, two jumping castle slides (with water), quad bikes, trampoline, jungle gym, cable slide and all kinds of exciting activities. A real boys' party venue.
Is there anybody out there who grew up in Port Elizabeth who doesn't remember the Smartie train at Kings Beach? I remember how we went to the little kiddies pool by the train and went on rides afterwards. I still have a photo somewhere with us kids standing in front of the train. Today the pool is a quad bike / go-cart track, but the train still goes, although not called the Smartie Train anymore. The Bibo Train runs on…
Its been a while since I've done a Random theme post. For today's post I did an impromptu macro photo shoot in my garden. I love succulents and cacti as they are easy to maintain and make the most interesting flowers when they do bloom. In front of the house I have a small rock garden while I have lots of different succulents in pots around the pool.
