The Wine Show

This past weekend the Nelson Mandela Bay leg of the annual The Wine Show took place at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.  The city really needs more shows like this and looking at the popularity people are hungry (or in this case perhaps thirsty) for them.  Most of the exhibitors were boutique cellars and visitors to the show got the opportunity to taste and get to know a lot of wines which they perhaps have never heard of before.
I think John Woodward, Director of The Wine Show, sums the purpose of the show up best by saying, “Our aim at The Wine Show is to strip away the snobbery from wine and prove to visitors that you don’t need to be a connoisseur to enjoy a good glass of vino. In South Africa we are blessed with a multitude of local wines to suit every occasion, meal and mood.”

Oooh nice !!! I see Raka in the background – we went wine tasting there on our way to Hermanus – nice wines, I often buy them.

We have a wine festival in PE now? FANTASTIC!! And I see there are international wines on show too – that one inthe foreground is italian and the Casillera del Diabolo in the background is Spanish 🙂 You can see I had a misspent youth hahaha!

Seems like a good idea. As long as visitors don't come just to get drunk. Wouldn't take much for me.
