On the rocks

Oh how I wish I could spend the day sitting on the rocks like this and just stare out at sea.  I did have a super relaxing looooong weekend, but now its shoulder to the wheel till after Tourism Indaba.  The next two weeks are going to be seriously hectic at work so please excuse if the posts doesn’t have a lot of information in them. If I did decide to slip away to stare at the bay, I would probably also do it here on the rocks at Pollok Beach.

Ooops – missed this post somehow. First photograph – barnacles I believe is what they are Jonker. Second photo is of some form of tubular coral. Third photograph is of black mussels. Black mussels along our coast have orange/red flesh inside and also have cream coloured flesh. I was once told that one can tell the males from the flesh colour – orange/red for male and cream for female. I post this for interest, and do not claim to be the expert. What I do know is that mussels freshly plucked and eaten from the rocks are delicious.

I am just catching up on visiting my favorite blogs, and I just looked over your last few posts. What WONDERFUL photographs. My goodness.Barnacles have always fascinated me. My father used to feed cheddar cheese to the barnacles (oh, don't ask… *heh*) and the barnacles actually ate the cheese.
